Part of my ongoing “Roses” series, this painting explores the meeting of light, sea, and flowers. An open window dissolves the boundary between the interior and the Mediterranean landscape beyond, while sunlight fills the room, revealing the delicate transparency of the glass vase. I was interested not only in the beauty of the roses, but also in the way light gives them presence and transforms the entire space. Painted in oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, ready to hang.
